Kingussie High School seniors portraits
Lots of fun on Thursday night, doing the seniors portraits at the Kingussie High School Christmas dance. This was quite different from when I used to do the portraits at Tain Royal Academy, where most of the students were photographed individually, with a few couples and some groups at the end. The students at Kingussie mostly wanted to be photographed in groups doing dramatic, silly and funny poses, so that's what we did and I think I can safely say that everyone enjoyed themselves! Here's a tiny selection of photos:

Hi Stephanie. Are you a student at the high school? The proof prints arrived last week and we’ve just put them all in to albums tonight. They will be delivered to the school as soon as I can get the order forms made up, which will hopefully be tomorrow, Monday. The proofs look fantastic! I think everyone will be very happy with their photos.

Fantastically shots! (Capturing the variety of interaction between the students was probably the hardest part of the night — great work!) I expecially love the light — can you tell me about your setup? Did you only use one hot light/soft box a few feet to your left aimed slightly down (or maybe a lot down from higher up?) — something like 24×36? The light from head to toe looks really good on the full-length portraits — is there a second light aimed straight at the students from something like 4 feet high? Maybe not — that would probably throw too much light on the backdrop. The light on the backdrop is really nice — probably just ambient light there? Oh yea, did you have ambient light problems or were tungsten bulbs good to go? I’m taking event photos at a corporate retirement party and I’ve been asked to do portaits there as well — I’m thinking I’d like to do a mix of full-length portraits as well as portraits that are tighter in to give a choice. We have 3 tungsten hot lights with soft boxes that I’m planning to bring and put a setup together. These shots will be a little more formal since the attendees will not be as fun as high school seniors. (8,D} Thanks for sharing your shots and insight!
